The Art Film Fest, an international film festival, is a major social and cultural event in Slovakia. For 18 years, the festival has sought to present the latest trends in world cinematography. The Art Film Fest introduces new, international and domestic film production and appeals to a large variety of culture-seeking audiences. The organizers also create enough room for interaction with foreign and domestic filmmakers and present Slovak professional and student film production. 

For several years now, the Art Film Fest program has included competitive and informative sections, special presentations and workshops. Every year, the organizers invite filmmakers to introduce their films.  Thus, the filmmakers have a unique opportunity to communicate with audiences not only through their production, but also in person, in front of the screen.  Films submitted to the competition are judged by a jury of international experts.  The winner in the main category of Full Length Feature Film receives a prestigious Blue Angel Award.  In addition to the competition, there are specialized sections of the festival presenting documentaries, films by renowned filmmakers, masterpieces of world cinematography and movies grouped by subject matter. 

Apart from film presentations, visitors and guests have an opportunity to attend film seminars, creative workshops, art exhibitions and concerts. The festival organizers hold press conferences and parties to foster interaction between film professionals, members of the press, producers and distributors.  This way, the festival strengthens its overall position in the context of the audiovisual industry.  It also helps to draw the attention of domestic audiences to high-quality film production from Slovakia and other countries.
